Men like to get wet and dirty, whether its for work or play, and so having a quality rain boot to stomp around in is a must. We review some of the best contenders for this year’s rain, sleet and snow boots for men in 2017!
CLC Rain Wear Boot is a down to earth rain boot, that does what it says on the tin. Along with the very similar, Tingley Economy Kneed Boot, these are priced modestly and only available in one color – black.
You are unlikely to be invited to any cocktail parties wearing these rain boots. Manufacturers CLC specialize in tough looking workwear, which was built to last the distance and these Rain Wear Boots are no exception.
With a cleated sole, these won’t slip you up and the rubber is sufficiently thick enough to be both warm and dry. One word of advice though, if you do want to wear these in the snow or cold conditions, make sure you layer up. They will be warm enough, but only if you wear two pairs of socks.
These are an entry level basic boot, which you might keep in your car for emergencies, but won’t be gracing Paris Fashion Week anytime soon!
The Tingley Economy Kneed Boot for agriculture is pretty similar in most respects to the previous rain boot.
Only available in black, these are PVC and have the same cleated outer sole. Unlike the rain boots, these are marketed as being for work or agricultural use.
To this effect, the manufacturers promise that they will remain supple in the cold weather and won’t chafe your legs terribly, whilst bending and stretching at work. This is one of the main differences between these and the very similar rain boots.
Also, these have been rated as being resistant to certain chemical and oil spills, but you will still need to take care out there – these are not the steel toe capped version!
All in all, for the price, we cannot fault them for keeping our feet warm and dry and more besides!
Woohoo! We have color! Although the Servus are a serious boot, meant for the serious business of shoveling cow shit and maybe doing a spot of decontamination at Fukishuma (check out the ‘nuclear chic’ white pair!) these are at least available in some bright and cheerful colors.
Like the other pairs, these are heavy and hard wearing. They are also much more than ‘just’ a rain boot. With a steel toe cap, these can be put to hardcore work, either in the factory or the farm, or even maybe the laboratory.
You won’t slip or trip and these are comfortable enough to have on all day – but not walk a long way in, we think!
Our only pair of leather boots and the only pair which are not calf length, these are actually highly stylish!
These would be our rain boot of choice, if we wanted to be seen wearing them by anyone who matters. No disrespect to our other rain and muck boots, but they are all substance over style, whereas the Sorel Rain Boot has both.
Available in a fetching array of two toned colors, these will keep your feet dry and are comfortable enough to cover some considerable distance in.
They are also very warm and rated down to minus 25 F! Although they are not actual designated snow boots, they will keep the snow off nicely and have a really decent tread for any slippery or wet conditions.
Although these may not be the best choice for leaping into puddles, let alone snowdrifts, these do keep your feet dry and warm in everyday rainy situations.
Better still, these are adequately stylish to not want to have to hide from civilization whilst you have them on, so might make a good choice for anyone wanting to stay dry and remain on nodding terms with sophistication.
Our most expensive pair of rain boots, the Bogs are an incredibly well made pair of rubber boots.
We like the fact that these have handles, to help you hoist them on – and off – with and also like the fact that these have been designed to be worn in temperatures as low as -40F.
They are also highly comfortable, as well as warm and very dry and most owners just love wearing them.
Unlike the cheaper models, these have some sort of style to them and look visibly sleeker than our first three rain and muck boots.
They are also available in several colors, although they are all low-key ones that look like they were designed to blend into the landscape.
If you want to be comfortable and warm and still able to wear them in a variety of occupations – from dirt spreading to working in a warehouse, we think you have found your work boot!
