OUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS
How do you like your sandals? What if you could make them more strappy and even more adjustable?
If these are your requirements, then step forward the Merrell Women’s Terran Lattice II Sandal.
These take the definition of ‘open’ to the max, whilst still supporting your foot securely with an array of decorative, but also practical, adjustable straps.
With a breathable mesh lining, to help prevent sweaty and sticky feet, these are the ultimate hot weather footwear.
Although at this time of year, this might seem a bit hopeful, those of you jetting off for sunnier climes this winter might well be looking for something just like this to pack on holiday.
These Terran Lattice II Sandals from Merrell promise to be a super comfy ride right from the word go.
With a ‘Remember Me’ foam bed, the Terran Lattice II’s have a nice soft base, which will hug and stroke your feet, from the moment you begin wearing them.
The back straps are an adjustable hook and loop system, which make fastening easy and the other straps feature Velcro fastening.
In the heel there is the Merrell air cushion, to absorb all the shocks that the journey ahead throws at you and protect your feet from the bumps on the road.
With a molded nylon foot shank, these are perfectly shaped to support your arches and give some much needed assistance for long distance wear.
Made from a nubuck leather and mesh combination, these are stylish as well as high quality and have padded points, where there may be pressure on your feet.
All this helps with the overall comfort and to prevent unnecessary chafing during wearing.
The traction on these sandals looks good and we don’t think they will skid or trip too easily.
THE DESIGN
In terms of looks, these are a practical sandal, which offer more than just support with their strappy design. They are also aesthetically pleasing.
Straps run from the front to the back of this sandal and feature suitable support for the back of the foot, including the heel and ankle.
With both solid color and patterned straps, these are subtly decorative. The foot bed also features a patterned motif on it.
These are two toned design, which blend together well and provide a touch of color to your feet, without ever overwhelming them.
At the present time of writing, the Merrell Women’s Terran Lattice II Sandals are available in four shades; Black, which are a solid black strap with a gray foot bed.
There is also a gray patterned strap along the front of the sandal. The Navy sandal has a dark blue solid strap over the majority of the sandal, which is juxtaposed against a green patterned strap.
The foot bed has a light green design on the foot bed. The Dark Earth are a subdued shade of grayish brown and all within the same color spectrum.
Finally, the Teal is the brightest of all the color choices on offer – these are a light blue with light green and blue patterns along the front of the shoe.
THE FIT
The most important thing for any footwear has to be the age old question of whether it fits correctly. This is doubly true for a strappy sandal.
Get it wrong, and it can be like standing in a mousetrap. It is therefore imperative that the fit is right for your individual sizing.
Like most sandals, these are only available in a full size and range from a size five up to an eleven. This should cover most bases, we feel. As for width, they are only on sale in a standard medium fitting.
In terms of satisfaction at the fit of these sandals, the approval rating is high. 78% of customers reported they were happy with the fit and the sizing of them. This is a good statistic and you have every chance of being one of the satisfied customers.
For a minority of people, these were either too small or too large, in almost equal numbers. It is more than likely though, that these will fit you just fine first time. And the straps can be adjusted to help with this, quite considerably.
THE COMFORT
With a Remember Me foam foot bed, as well as padded straps, Merrell have certainly been doing their best to make these a comfortable wearing experience. The foot bed is breathable and soft and nice to place your feet into.
Added to this, the heel come with a cushion to protect it and the molded nylon arch shank helps to make it all that bit more supportive.
Unlike a lot of strappy sandals, these straps are soft and do not cut into your flesh, making them a good choice for both long distance and long days of wear.
THE TERRAIN
These are made from a nubuck leather, which can be protected by various shoe products to boost the waterproofing. We would not describe these as being waterproofed, however, but many customers have felt that these are suitable for wearing in wet conditions.
Possibly, we would advise some caution from them becoming waterlogged, but they can be cleaned gently with a damp cloth and brush.
Many customers have found these just fine for going off road and walking for miles. Others think they are better for everyday walking.
Either way, they stand up well to continuous usage and long hours of being on your feet.
SHOULD I BUY THESE SANDALS?
The Merrell Women’s Terran Lattice II Sandals are an excellent all rounder for both outdoors use and all day every day wear.
