We wish all sandals looked as comfortable as these by manufacturer Merrell. These Women’s Sandspur Delta Slide Sandals are as firm looking as they are comfy and seem like the perfect solution to knackered feet.
By the look of them, these *boots* (or sandals) were made for walking, due in no small part to the lug tread pattern on the rubber soles. If you look at the soles, you will see that they are significantly better equipped them most open sandals
This makes them better placed than many casual sandals for serious walking in.
Are these sandals or flip flops? We are not entirely sure, but as they don’t have a thong between the toes, they probably qualify as sandals – albeit very exposed ones, which don’t give a lot of protection.
The soles mean these are worthy contenders for a hike and eating up serious miles of walking, either on holiday, or just in sunnier climes.
As well as the undersoles, the foot bed makes them a comfortable looking proposition for walking in. They have a soft textile lining and seem rather spongy to the touch.
There is a contoured cushioned foot bed, which should provide adequate support for most feet. The hardy looking leather upper means we think that these sandals ought to last some serious distance and all in all, they seem a sturdy sandal.
In terms of pure aesthetics, well as we said, these sandals do not mess around.
One word we would not use to describe these Merrell Sandspur Delta Slide sandals is girly. Or fussy. There is nothing overly dressy about these sandals. However, this does not make them un-presentable.
Far from it, they exude a simple grace and are available in five straightforward colors; Black, White, Green, Brown which all do what they say on the tin and Tiger Lilly/ Melon which is a kind of orange color.
They also have a heel on them of one inch, although you may not be aware that you are wearing it.
These solidly constructed, yet open, sandals feature one main band around the foot, divided into two, with gaps for air around the ball of the foot.
There is a cross design, set atop of a leather upper, featuring decorative stitching accents. The foot beds are predominantly shades of gray, except for the white colored sandals, which are more like an off white.
The inner soles also have a diamond shaped pattern, in the relevant color, to correspond to the shading of the sandal upper.
The manufacturer Merrell, well known for highly comfortable outdoor shoes, certainly think that these Sandspur Delta Slide Sandals are every bit for the outdoors and adventures, as are their larger, more built up shoes and cousins.
So, what do people who have tried them on think?
These are available only in a whole size and come in a standard width. In terms of fit as expected, they score a 54% feedback. This is not the greatest stat that we have ever seen, but it is far from the worst either.
All it means is that you might have to try on more than one size to get the right size for you. With some people thinking that they run a little too narrow and others thinking they run large, we are not quite sure what to suggest, however, for most people, their usual sizing is just fine.
One thing you might be rightfully expecting from these Merrell’s Sandspur Delta Slide Sandals is a blissful wearing experience. And you would be right.
Most customers can attest that these are a highly comfortable pair of sandals. With a fabric covered lining and a thick sole on the foot bed, these should provide both the support and the snug comfort that you were hoping for.
We haven’t heard any significant bad reports of these sandals rubbing or chafing. Of course, there are always a few people for whom any given style might not be the right one, but by and large, these are as comfortable as they are durable.
The easy slide on style gives these Merrell’s Sandspur Delta Slide Sandals the ease of a flip flop, but with more comfort and less chafing. They are also highly hardwearing and ought to outlive the more humble flip flop.
As we have mentioned, manufacturer Merrell specialize in outdoor wear, producing a large number of sandals, boots and walking shoes of varying descriptions.
Should these be just as rugged as some of their beefier off-road models? We think so – but just remember that these are a very open style of sandal. There’s no strap on the heel and they would not offer very much protection from the elements – at least from the top of the foot.
The underside, however, is an entirely different proposition. With the lug tread pattern and thick sole, these are not going to trip you up anytime soon.
Although the sole says please jump in a muddy puddle, we are not too sure that the fabric lined foot bed is agreeing with it. The manufacturers recommend cleaning these with a damp cloth or brush. They do not suggest machine washing though, so proceed with caution.
For the same reason, we would not recommend getting these too wet. The sole might take some time to dry, although they should probably dry fine enough, if you follow their instructions not to put them on the radiator.
With a high approval rating from customers in terms of comfort and durability, we think these straightforward sandals make a great choice for walking, trekking and general wear.
If you are looking for comfort, versatility and above all a no fuss wearing experience, we would recommend these Merrell’s Sandspur Delta Slide Sandals all the way.
