Although we can’t actually find the specific item weight of this Proform Performance 600 C treadmill, the shipping weight comes in at a humungous 224 pounds. This is very heavy, and so obviously, before you even think about assembling it, you need to simply lift it into the place, where you want to put it together.
This will be no mean feat, and we think that simply achieving this, should count as your workout for the day!
Undoubtedly you are going to need help just moving the boxed dimensions into your house, and we strongly advise keeping those spare pair of hands around for the actual assembly too. As you can imagine, this is basically like having at least two dead bodies strapped together, somewhat awkwardly, to manipulate and put in place, so even though the actual assembly shouldn’t tax the gray matter too much, it will give your muscles a well needed flex.
However, you need to be careful when lifting or carrying anything with these dimensions and weight around, hence the need to enlist some help.
Yes, one or two supermen have said that they did this themselves, but it’s basically like hauling a small tank around. No point in getting a state of the art running machine if you’re going to slip a disc trying to put it in place.
This is very important to note…. this treadmill is so wide that it does not fit through a standard door fitting, so you will need to assemble it in the room where you want to use it.
Because $1400+ is not exactly small change for most of us, it is not surprising if you want to take a bit of time and see exactly what this treadmill can do for you.
Given the significant price tag, it’s possible you may actually consider this as an alternative to gym membership. And depending on who you are, and what your workout needs are, you might be on to a ‘winner’.
For a lot of people, gym membership can be a waste of money, one of those good intentions that end up not being used after the first week of January has passed.
Getting a treadmill at home, rather than using the gym, or simply going for a walk outside, might be a consideration for so many reasons – especially if you don’t have transport, and the gym is a long way away, or the weather is too bad to go out. (although check out our snow boots section for this season!)
Would getting the Proform Performance 600 C Treadmill be a good swap for a costly gym membership? Let’s run down a list of its top features.
This simply means a better workout for your legs. Incline training will burn more calories, and put more shape into your muscles. This is an automated incline with a range of 0-12%. In basic parlance, you will be running up slopes and hills, which is better than running on a perfectly flat line.
Fancy a jog somewhere else in the world? This treadmill is ‘I fit’ compatible, and uses google maps to adjust your run or jog on the terrain you choose!
Taking the shock out of running, this technology helps cushion your joints, so you get a workout and not a ‘shake out’!
Running makes you hot and sweaty. The whole point of getting this machine is never to have to subject yourself to hot weather conditions – cool yourself with the built in fan….how good does this feel?
Check your pulse and heart rate as you workout.
Your backlit console gives all the information about your run…. speed, distance, calories and everything else you would expect from a machine of this caliber.
You don’t even have to think about your training schedule, simply press and go!
Of course you want music to run to, so the Proform Performance is fully iPod compatible, and comes complete with 2 inch speakers.
Unlike some cheaper machines, this treadmill goes all the way up to 12 mph. It doesn’t matter if you don’t ever hit those heights, of course, but it’s just nice to know that you can go full tilt if you want to.
By all accounts this is a durable, reliable machine that does not feel like it will crumble beneath our feet.
We really like the fact that it folds up, and we also like the easy assembly – which is not always the case with treadmills!
We especially like the fact that by all accounts, this is a relatively quiet treadmill that does not make a disproportionate amount of noise. Now, this is impressive considering that this is a VERY heavy piece of machinery, that can take individuals weighing up to 325 pounds – which is indeed a considerable weight– and also goes at 12 miles per hour!
With the choice of workouts, and all the modern convenirncess we would expect from a treadmill costing over a grand (sound system, cool fans and full information display on consoles) we are convinced that this could be as good as going to the gym on those days that you can’t get out of the house.
For anyone considering this, instead of a gym membership, we would say yes, go ahead!
Just remember to assemble it with a friend, in the room you want it be in, as you won’t be able to move it easily once it’s up!
