AT A FIRST GLANCE
That is our first impression, of these deeply shiny Louechy Men’s Ocheso Water Shoes.
Not that this is a bad thing – it makes a change from the relentless gray that seems to be engulfing, everything and everyone these days.
There are four colors in this style – none of them gray – something which we heartily endorse.
In fact, being boring is something that we cannot accuse these Ocheso’s of! Rather, they are actually quite metallic to look at and come in Black, Blue, Green and Ochre.
The black are probably the least showy of the four. So, if drawing attention to yourself or looking like Caligula isn’t your thing, then we would direct you towards this one.
The blue have a shiny look and appear to be a fetching shade of sapphire. The green are probably the most two tone of this design – with the main upper of the shoe actually being gold in color, featuring an overlay of metallic green, which goes along the border of the shoe.
These are the more emperor like of the shoes and definitely the most interesting to look at of the bunch.
Lastly, come the ochre, these are slightly more subdued, but still shiny and definitely a long way from boring.
And as for the overall design of this water shoe?
Well, as you would expect, it features a mesh fabric, to allow the water to pour through it.
These holes also allow for the shoe to be aired. This makes them just as effective to be worn for walking in the heat and sunshine, as they are for wearing in the water.
The shoes are lightweight and easy to wear. They have a chunky rubber sole, specially designed to stop slippage around the pool and other wet areas where you will be using them.
Like most – but not all – water shoes, these come in an easy to put on, slip on style, which makes getting them on an off an absolute doddle.
The outsole is handstitched to be super durable, the manufacturers assure us, and the mesh base has a gauze beneath it. This has some very fine holes and then larger gaps, additionally.
These are to allow water and air easy access through to the foot, but not annoyances such as stones and debris.
On the top of the mesh textile upper are the leather overlays. These are the shiniest part of the shoe and bring a decorative and slightly Roman-esq vibe to the whole experience.
Spanning from a US size 6.5 to 11.5, this should be enough options for most people – but it might be worth checking to see whether a larger or smaller size is available, from other vendors.
These come in a half size, which is good news for anyone requiring a better fit, but in terms of width, it is one size fits all, unfortunately.
For most people – 80% in fact- these fit perfectly the first time around. For a very small minority, they may run slightly large.
On the whole, though, these fit most people properly without any ado.
We think that you should be fine to go ahead and order your normal size without any worry.
Comfort is the number one issue for most customers, when it comes to choosing a pair of shoes – any shoes. But for ones which might see you walking for some time in them, it matters even more.
Because these have been billed as walking shoes, as well as water shoes, we think that it matters that they fit correctly.
As the sizing isn’t an issue, the next thing to move onto is the wear-ability and comfort of the shoe.
For most people, the comfort scores highly. There are good reports, from the majority of wearers that these are comfy to have on and can be worn for both long distances, as well as lounging around in.
Additionally, some people told us they liked wearing these Louechy Men’s Ocheso Water Shoe Loafers as slippers – believe it or not!
We think these could easily double up as slippers, but of course, there is more to this shoe than just that!
What about the support provided by these shoes? We have to say that we are not entirely sure about this, as there haven’t been any reports to say they are either good or bad, in this direction.
But if you suffer from a serious podiatric condition, we would probably urge caution when it came to buying any sort of casual or water shoe.
Although they are not especially designed to provide loads of support for sufferers of plantar fasciitis or any other condition, they may still be alright for short term use.
Clearly, these are water shoes, so their primary purpose is poolside.
But usage is not only restricted to the pool. You might also choose these as deck shoes, for messing about on a boat; be it the kayak or yacht.
In fact, you may choose these for any activity that involves getting wet.
For example, we would happily wear these Louechy Water Shoes whilst out beach combing or river walking – they dry up quick and provide ample protection from the stones and the other nasties that threaten our tender tootsies.
The manufacturer also suggest that these can be worn as walking shoes. This means you should be able to eat up the miles, on dry land, with ease.
This is helpful, because it means that you don’t have to bring a change of shoes with you the minute you leave the pool or get off the boat.
The soles on these are robust enough to cope with a reasonable degree of walking – although we would exercise restraint on just how far you should be prepared to push them.
SO, SHOULD I BUY THESE WATER SHOES?
At the price point that these Louechy Water Shoes come at – $29.77 or roundabout, they are hardly expensive.
