OUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS
So, what can we say about this fine looking Lethato Wingtip Brogue Oxfords?
The first thing that you notice (cannot fail to notice) is that these are rather eye catching.
As a pair of shoes, these finish somewhere near the top of the Tree Pyramid of Poshness.
This is because they are both Oxfords and Brogues and for added snob value, also have a wingtip.
The wingtip is the fancy design on the tip of the toe, which makes it very specific, but also extremely dressy.
As you may have already guessed, just from owning a pair of eyes, these are a shoe which you would reserve for best.
Despite not being extortionately expensive (these shoes come in at between $110-$130 a pair) these are definitely a pair of shoes which will make you feel like taking good care of them.
THE DESIGN VIEW
Now these are really something special.
For a start off, they are hand painted. This already sets them head and shoulders above most other footwear.
Additionally these have a double tone effect and are made of an Argentinean Full Grain Leather. Good stuff eh?
In terms of color, these come in six varieties and they are all deeply manly. Which isn’t to say boring. For once, we are pleased to announce that it is possible to look like a chap without ever having to wear anything preposterous.
In other words, although your Lethato Wingtip Oxford Brogues will wow with their sense of style and even, in the case of a couple of the designs, their playfulness, under no occasions will you ever be made to feel ridiculous.
Choose between Purple, Wine Red, Tan, Wooden, Black, Gray and Navy Blue.
All of these color combinations offer a sophisticated degree of style, but some of them will grab the attention more than others.
Having said that, we like all of them.
If you are looking for a more sober wearing experience, then the black option will probably work best for you.
These still offer all the style of a wingtip Oxford brogue, but are discreet enough to be worn to that exclusive club or important business meeting.
Other less showy options, which still have some bite to them include the purple, which is an eggplant kind of color and the gray.
Gray being of course the buzz color for a generation, won’t let you down and can be mixed in and matched with most outfits.
The wine red straddle smart with sassy, but are never too full on to be worn with a tidy outfit and premiered around town.
More noticeable still is the tan pair. These are possibly on the more casual end of the spectrum for these Lethato Wingtip Brogues.
Although they could still very definitely be dressed up, if there was one contender to pick for wearing comfortably with a pair of jeans, we would say this was it.
However, the model that seems to have been the most purchased (if the reviews are anything to go by) is clearly the navy blue.
Now you could be forgiven for thinking that this wouldn’t be anything very special. But when you see them, you will think again.
The navy blue Lethato Wingtip Brogues are an experience.
Made from a two toned, hand painted leather, these seem to look more intensified than their monotone brethren.
The combination of navy blue paneling on a tan leather is striking and the decorative holes which make up this wingtip design are more notable.
Like all the colors, these Lethato Wingtip Brogues come with some charming gold tipped aglets (the things on the end of the shoelaces).
This just completes the classy look all round and cements their place as being the king of your shoe closet. If you had a shoe closet, that is. We’re not suggesting you’re a sort of male Imelda Marcos.
However, this is not all for the full color range in this style. Because lastly, but by no means least, are the fabulous wooden color.
These are different to the other wingtip brogues in this range and after a brief perusal of the Lethato website, we do wonder whether perhaps the listing of these shoes was slightly mistaken.
However, the wooden style are still a contender in their own right – albeit a simpler and plainer one. You will undoubtedly get plenty of (positive) attention wearing these shoes.
Although these stunning wingtip Oxford brogues by manufacturer Lethato are clearly a dress to impress shoe, that does not mean to say you will be uncomfortable.
Far from it. Made from a soft Argentinean leather and with a comfort sole, these are some of the most comfy brogues to grace your foot you will ever know.
Everyone seems to agree they are a pleasure to have on and with the sizing spanning a seven and a half up to a thirteen, most sizes are catered for.
Although with a bit of care, we see no problems wearing these Lethato Wingtip Brogues out in the odd splash of rain, we wouldn’t really want to risk messing them up.
With a soft leather, like this, they deserve a bit of care taking with them and since you probably bought them to wear to a function or important event, you will most likely wear them indoors anyway.
