OH MY GOD! Who knew that in order to buy baby shoes you needed some sort of degree in … well, baby shoes!
If no one ever mentioned that anything to do with infant sizes was kind of err… complicated … we’re here to tell you that it is!
The first thing you need to do when ordering any baby shoes, is to check very carefully, that you are looking correctly at either the age, weight of the child, the approximate size of their feet, the approximate size of the child, or the actual shoe size. Then you can move on to the pit of despair that is shoe sizing, for each country of the world. Although for practical purposes, you are best sticking with the US sizes here, as this is a US shoe brand.
Just to confuse matters, Carter’s own website uses totally different criteria to sizing, than does the Amazon page. But, as far as we are aware, the current availability of this item is geared towards the late baby stages ( 6- 12 months old) and early toddlers ( up to 18 months).
Of course, not all infants are the same size at any given month, so throw that into the mix, and proceed with caution would be our advice here.
Naturally, if you are the parent, or even a parent at all, you will know all about these unfathomable issues, and that it is generally better to buy a size too big, than too small, as your little one can grow into it.
It should be reassuring, that in terms of fit, Amazon reports 69% of customers are happy with their order- which is not bad for ordering shoes off of the internet, let alone something as mystifying as baby shoe sizes!
However, if you do need to return them, then returns shouldn’t be an issue. Depending on the shoe you order, and how you order it, returns could be free, but please check.
So, assuming you have measured your little treasure’s feet (because the Amazon sizing guide goes by the foot sizing in inches, rather than by age or weight) and you’re good to go. Having done all that, what else is there to know about these rather cute baby walking shoes?
HOW CUTE ARE THESE SHOES?
We know, it is hard to pick baby shoes, due to the fact that they all seem to be incredibly cute. It’s like picking the ‘sweetest sweet’ in a candy shop. But these Carter’s Every Step are simply adorable, and are available in three colors, lightest pink, gray silver and a navy blue with white spots.
Light pink is a true soft, baby pink, and features a delightful embroidered, salmon colored flower on the fastener. The inside sole is striped for contrast. The gray silver is a grayish backdrop with silver hearts on it and has a pinky colored interior, and finally the navy blue comes with small white polka dots with a pink embroidered flower on the fastening strap.
Made from leather and synthetics, these have a thin synthetic sole which provides a gentle cushion for your little one’s developing tootsies. The toes and heels have little sensory pods along them, to help guide your baby’s first steps all the better.
As you can guess by looking at them, these are not an ‘all- weather shoe,’ and really aren’t suitable for outdoor wear, or on any surface that is not clean or dry. These first shoes are however, definitely easy to clean with a damp cloth.
HOW RELIABLE ARE THESE SHOES?
In terms of durability, this reviewer is convinced that these baby first steps are rugged enough to last through two toddlers. By far the majority of customers are very happy with their purchase Carter’s Every Step shoes.
These are a good durable pair of ‘first walkers’, but of course, they will not be walking all that far in them!
ARE THERE ANY ISSUES WITH THESE SHOES?
It is unlikely that you are going to be anything other than completely satisfied with the design of these adorable baby walking shoes, and it is also unlikely that they will fall apart, either from overuse or poor workmanship.
The biggest issue, and this happens all the time with on line shoe sales, especially for infants, is that the sizing may be incorrect. In which case, we have to refer the reader to the original point about getting the little darling’s feet measured beforehand!
If these are a gift, we recommend scaling up at least one size, because they can always sit in a drawer waiting to come into use. Fortunately, at this age, seasonal variations don’t really matter, as they are worn indoors pretty much all year round.
Your biggest problem with these shoes – apart from of course losing them – maybe trying to get them off your toddler who really likes to wearing their Carter’s Every Step to bed!
