These are a sort of amphibious looking beast from aquatic shoe specialist Keen.
Keen manufacture quality hiking and water shoes designed for the outdoors and all sorts of other wholesome pursuits.
The Women’s Cypress Sandals combine style with practicality and feature easy bungee laces, a metatomical EVA foot bed, durable PU midsole and a non marking rubber sole.
These sandals are largely open to the elements, making them perfect for aquatic pursuits, although they have a closed toe tip. This means that if you are out walking about slightly rocky terrain, hopefully they will protect your tootsies a tad. Although, these are hardly steel toe caps, so care still needs to be taken!
On a first view, these would seem to be a very lightweight construction. Everybody who has tried a pair of these on seems to be very impressed with the overall feeling of weightlessness when wearing them.
Very much a shoe designed for the outdoor pursuits around water, we are pleased to say that these can be worn in the pool and are often purchased for activities such as aqua aerobics.
The comfortable looking foot bed has been arched to give a greater support to the exercising foot and with grips on the inner sole, as well as the outer we think your foot should not slip when the shoe gets wet.
These Keen Women’s Cypress Sandals are not just a functional sandal, they are also designed to be seen as well.
Not exactly shying away in the looks department, we reckon that these will blend beautifully into any woman’s casual wardrobe and won’t be a case of being taken off and hidden as soon as you leave the pool.
Available in four color combinations, these look as good as they feel and it looks as if the manufacturer had a bit of fun whilst naming them too!
Choose from Neutral Gray/ Green Glow which are a pairing of two tone gray shades and a lime colored green sole. If you want something a little fresher, then there is Loden/ Vapor. We are not quite sure, but think that the Loden is the exterior green color on the upper (although this is also merged with white) and the Vapor must refer to the grayish color on the foot bed. Silly name aside, this looks like a great color combination which won’t clash too much with whatever you’re wearing.
Other styles come in Mineral Blue/Vapor. The Mineral Blue is a sort of light turquoise or aqua color, which again features white as its sub color in the design of the upper and the sole is a gray shade.
Lastly, there is Midnight Navy/ Alaskan Blue. With a two tone navy blue and lighter blue upper, the sole is a complementary shade of blue also. There may also be a black shade, although we cannot currently find it on sale at the moment.
All four of these color choices are pretty tasteful. None of them can be exactly be described as loud, but they should blend in to most situations.
With the aforementioned durable and microfiber upper (which is made from textiles) makes these a comfortable and very lightweight shoe to have on your foot.
As mentioned, the inner sole also features a grooved and embossed pattern, to stop your feet from slipping around inside, when you are engaged in watery activities.
And what do customers think of the overall comfort of these shoes? Well, the overall impression is good. Most people report these are supportive and provide a good base for activities.
We know that ordering on the internet can be a lottery. Therefore, the news is fairly encouraging for these Keen Women’s Cypress Sandals.
With an approval rating of 87% for fitting as expected, we think that you should be able to go ahead and order your usual sizing with confidence.
We also haven’t heard of any problems for wider or narrower feet – the open nature of these sandals, with the bungee laces means that they snap to most foot sizes and shapes with ease.
As already described, manufacturer Keen are a sports and aqua shoe specialist. These Keen Cypress Sandals are designed to be worn in places like the beach or the poolside.
We especially like the closed toe which helps to prevent some of the debris and larger stones from coming into the shoe.
So yes, these shoes can get wet and they will dry off just fine. They can also be machine washed afterwards, if needs be.
The only question that has arisen about their usage is whether these are really suitable for full on hikes. Here, there has been some debate.
Some people really love these for walking in, others have found them less robust.
All in all, we think these are fine for walking on the beach and other lighter terrain, but anything more arduous and you might be better off switching to something like a closed shoe or a boot with bigger grips on it.
With an approval rating of over 85%, we think that this is a ringing endorsement to buy these sandals.
If you are looking for the perfect shoe for the poolside, to take to the beach or to do aqua aerobics in, then we think that these Keen Women’s Cypress Sandals are it.
And when you are done with them, you can wash them up nicely and wear them around town or in everyday life afterwards.
For a thoroughly versatile water sandal, these are definitely one of our top picks!
